Deluxe: A hybrid of traditional style, garage style, and a horse barn
Traditional: Open floor plan, clear span, plain open square footage for storage, working, whatever
Post Frame Garage: Like the traditional style, but enclosed, and with large doors for easy access to equipment or materials. Usually with a concrete floor.
Horse Barn: Similar in functionality to the Monitor style but with the shed or sheds open
Monitor: This design is easier to compartmentalize the interior, great for live-stock situations, i.e. rooms/ stalls

The State of Oregon has several ready-build plans available for pole barns like the one you're building. While this doesn't guarantee permit approval, they can still be a great starting point.

Were you planning to use one of them? Visit Oregon.gov for more details.

State of Oregon Ready-Build Plan Modification Allowances

Plans may be modified as noted below and remain ready-build pole building plans. The local jurisdiction must verify the plan design criteria meet or exceed the associated site criteria. Allowable plan modifications must comply with one or more of the following:
    • Specified eave height is the maximum height. Eave height may be reduced.
    • Specified roof pitch is the maximum pitch. Pitch may be reduced to 3/12. Lower pitched roofs are allowed if they comply with ORSC R905.10.
    • Specified frame spacing is the maximum spacing. Frame spacing may be reduced.
    • Specified length is the maximum length. Length may be reduced, but must not be less than the width specified on the plan. Allowed openings must be reduced by the same length that was removed from the overall building length.
    • Openings shown may be changed to walls except one three-foot wide by six-foot, eight-inch tall side-hinged door must be provided somewhere on the exterior.
The division does not approve modifications to the plans. Plan modifications beyond the limits indicated above are expressly subject to local jurisdiction approval on a site-specific basis.
If you have any questions about allowed modifications, give us a call at 541.998.2317.
29Ga 3' Wide Steel: Lightweight and easy to work with. Very low maintenance over the long run
26Ga 3' Wide Steel: Heavier duty than the 29ga. Mostly for commercial applications
26Ga Concealed Fastener: Cleaner look than the 3' wide steel. Concealed fastener means fewer penetrations exposed to the weather

Doug Fir Board & Batt: Real wood siding for a more classic appearance. Will require regular maintenance.
Cedar: Also a real wood siding. Cedar is less likely to rot than fir, and is usually more expensive.
T1-11: Similar in appearance to board & batt with more structural integrity. Requies regular maintenance.
